General Information About DHIC's Apartments

DHIC built its first apartment community in 1984. Now we own more than two dozen across Wake County and other areas of North Carolina. Quality and good design are DHIC's hallmarks, not just the affordable rents. That's why our properties have received numerous appearance and innovation awards.

Types of Apartments

  • Family Apartments are for singles or families of just about any size. We have 18 family apartments in 6 counties.
  • Senior Apartments are restricted to individuals who are age 55 (or 62 in some cases) or older. DHIC offers 9 senior apartments in 2 counties.
  • Supportive Housing is for singles who have been homeless in the past or otherwise need access to more intensive social services. We have one supportive housing community now with another in the works, both in Wake County.

Income Restrictions

Most of DHIC's apartments are reserved for households earning 60% or below Area Median Income (AMI), with some exceptions. Income limits are based on household size and county, and they change each year. To find out whether you qualify for a specific DHIC property, contact the apartment manager listed on the property page.
