Located inside the Beltline between South Saunders Street and Lake Wheeler Road, Wheeler Crossing was DHIC's and the City of Raleigh's first affordable housing subdivision. The forty six homes in the neighborhood were completed in 1992 and sold for about $60,000 each. The homes are now selling in the $90,000 range. The neighborhood remains stable and has served as a stepping stone for many of the initial buyers to move into bigger homes.
