Wake County Affordable Homeownership Program
PLEASE NOTE: The Wake County Affordable Homeownership Program assistance program funds have been exhausted for funding through June 30, 2026.
However, we highly encourage interested participants to go through the counseling process to see if you meet the requirements of the program. The program will start again on July 1, 2026, and preparation for the future funding will help determine if requirements are met for the program. The first step is to contact one of our approved lenders for the program.

The Affordable Homeownership Program offers forgivable, no monthly payment loans up to $40,000 to low- to moderate-income households. Serving all Wake County municipalities, outside of Raleigh and Cary.*
DHIC will administer the program and provide essential homebuyer education and and one-on-one sessions, when requested.

Home purchase assistance for first-time homebuyers

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Have a household income that is at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI).
Individuals interested in purchasing their first home.

Minimum Credit Score: 640
Property Eligibility: New construction and existing homes
Eligible cities/townships: Apex, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Knightdale, Morrisville, Rolesville, Wake Forest, Wendell or Zebulon.
Properties located inside the City of Raleigh and the Township of Cary are excluded due to the federal funding sources supporting the program.
