This website was created under the Just Space Project within Doc+ at Duke University. Doc+ is a six-week summer program that aims to connect undergraduate students with the documentary arts through various projects. The Just Space Project was made in collaboration with DHIC and sought to archive the development of the Hardee Street Apartments and its story.
Meet the Just Space Team
P. Elitzandra Dominguez Escobar
Elitzandra Dominguez is a part of the class of 2026 at Duke University. She is from Elgin, Texas and is majoring in Public Policy with double minors in Economics and Visual and Media Studies. She developed a passion for documentary studies after taking a video editing course during the summer of her freshman year—an experience that marked the beginning of her film career. Since then, she’s worked on a variety of projects across different courses. Outside of academics, she enjoys being outdoors, living an active lifestyle, and cooking.
Gerald Reiling
Gerald is an undergraduate student at Duke University studying urban planning. Outside of his academics, he is interested in fashion, weightlifting, reading, and basketball. While originally from Hawaii, he currently lives in Eastern North Carolina, about an hour and a half away from Durham.
Leidi Salcedo-Ureña
Leidi is an undergraduate student at Duke University, studying Economics with a special focus on development. She is originally from the Dominican Republic and was raised in Miami, Florida. She has a special interest in documentaries as a way to communicate multifaceted stories. In her free time, she enjoys boxing, going to concerts and exploring nature trails.
Tinu Diver (Creative Partner)
Atinuke "Tinu" Diver is Vice President of Impact at DHIC, where she leads strategic storytelling, impact and fund development initiatives to advance affordable housing and community development across the Research Triangle Region. Tinu earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, a Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from the School of Social Work, and a Certificate in Documentary Arts from the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University.
Emma Volz (Teaching Assistant)
Emma Volz is a documentary filmmaker from Mesa, Arizona, whose work examines portraits familial efforts to cultivate communal folklore, traditions, language, and religion. She graduated with a BA in Media Arts Studies from Brigham Young University and is a current MFA graduate student at Duke University.
